This is a very big P&S camera case. It will probably fit the biggest P&S cameras. The dimensions in the description are the internal dimensions. The external seams and heavy padding give the case some huge external dimensions: 6″x4″x2.5″. This thing won’t fit in your pocket.

The top flap and the belt loop are secured by pieces of generic velcro. They seem fairly secure when new, but will they get too weak with use? Definitely keep an eye on those if you don’t want your camera to go flying.

okay, so when I saw the title of this product: AmazonBasics Universal Camera Case for Digital Cameras HF (Black) I could find no indication of dimension and so dreamt of using it for my amazon purchased Canon EOS Rebel T2i 18 MP CMOS APS-C Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens which badly needs a tight body camera case when not enclosed in the Vine product Lowepro SlingShot 100 All-Weather Digital Camera Backpack (Black). SO I had high hopes and ran for this product.

I guess what amazonbasics considers a digital camera is not what I consider a digital camera. I consider a digital camera an SLR style, but amazonbasics is thinking, like, you, know, a point and shoot, like my Vine product Fujifilm FinePix J28 10.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.

Heck, for my Vine product J28 I just picked up a generic Blackberry carrying case and slip it into my pocket and call it a day, real basic, nothing fancy. With this set up I can go anywhere, no problem, even Ciudad Juarez. At night. Even the cops do not take it when they are shaking me down for their routine inspections.

So anyway, this amazonbasics digital camera case is way too small for my T2i, and a bit too big for my faithful point and shoot. Even with the blackberry carrying case still on it, it drowns inside this diital camera carrying case, which comes with one of those belt loops.

You ever seen anyone with those belt loop things in action? Like, real creepy, dude, and screaming: ‘Please! Somebody rob me! Fast! Even the police!’

This will definitely not slip into my pants pocket ready for action, not even into those ballooning carga pants thigh pockets.

You ever seen anyone wearing those cargo pants, with those lower pockets full?

    REAL creepy, dude.

Make you want to fall on the ground dancing the worm and singing Pants on the Ground . . .

Anyway, this thing is too big for my J28 and way too small for my T2i.

But it does have one thin extra pocket to slip a few extra SanDisk Extreme – Flash memory card – 32 GB – 400x – CompactFlash into in case of need.

    Manufactured from genuine plastic weavings

For just an ultra compact camera like the Canon SD400 this case is oversized. It is better suited to a mid-size camera like the Canon Powershot A series. It is also a good size for a larger GPS unit. I can actually fit my small Garmin GPS and my Canon SD400 at the same time (albeit very snugly).

Overall I like the build. The front flap comes down far enough to provide ample protection. The sides are completely enclosed. The velcro closure feels sturdy and there is a small zippered pocket in the front for storing small items like a memory card or a couple AA batteries. It has a velcro secured belt loop which seems pretty strong. It doesn’t feel like it would accidentally come loose unless you really applied a lot of force.

Anyway it’s a good case if you have the right sized gadget for it. For a small camera it’s going to be rather large. But if you want to put a second item in it (such as an Ipod or phone) then you might find it to be just the right size.

The attractive and well-made AmazonBasics Camera Case is a universal fit for most P&S/compact cameras.

    Pros

    —-

    - Quick Velcro Access

The velcro-secured front flap allows quick access to your camera or other electronic gadgets.

    - Roomy Front Pocket

The front pocket is roomy enough for a spare battery and several CF or SD memory cards.

    - Univeral Fit

The roomy main compartment will fit almost all P&S (compact) cameras, save the bulkier models like the Canon G11 (which measures 4.4 x 3 x 1.9 inches), for example. (The internal dimensions of this case are 3.15 x 1.57 x 4.73 inches.)

    - Velcroed Belt Loop

I love the ease with which the case can be attached to (or detached from) my belt. The velcroed belt loop make fastening/unfastening the belt loop a breeze!

    - Simple and Attractive Design

The case has a simple but attractive design. The rubberized AmazonBasics Zipper just screams snazzy!

    - Quality Case

The case is well-stiched and looks to be very durable.

    Cons

    —-

    - Minimal Padding

The case offers little padding for protecting your device against drops or hard knocks.

    - Deep Front Pocket Not Ideally Suited For SD/microSD Card

The front pocket may be a little deep for SD/microSD cards. It requires a little digging to get these cards out.

In sum, what I love most about this case is the velcroed front flap, which allows quick and easy access to your camera. The velcoed belt loop is also a nice touch. If you’re looking for a simple case for protecting your camera from light bumps and scratches, this case is definitely worth consideration.

I like this case over the hard case that came with my canon p&s because this one has an extra pocket for spare SD cards, battery, or other small items.

It’s pretty compact, but big enough to fit most point and shoot cameras. Easy to throw in my purse and have my camera with me wherever I go.
